How to Compress a PPT File
Choose one or more files, select a compression level, and inspect the output. Presentation file contents stay in the browser for local compression.
What Makes a PPT File So Large?
High-resolution pictures, duplicated media, and unnecessary internal data can increase the file size. A file that is already optimized may show little or no reduction.
Compression Levels Compared
Lossless is the default. Other levels trade image detail for a smaller file; they must not turn editable text or charts into a flat picture.
| Level | Image treatment | What to review |
|---|---|---|
| Lossless | Keep image quality; optimize internal data | Content and editable objects remain unchanged |
| Standard | Target 150 dpi where applicable | Photographs and small text inside images |
| Strong | Target 96 dpi where applicable | Details at the intended presentation size |
| Extreme | Target 72 dpi or JPEG where suitable | Transparency, fine detail, and visible artifacts |
Compare Before and After
Inspect representative images at the same scale, then open the output deck. Review every item in a batch separately so one failed file does not hide behind another successful result.

Good questions.
Straight answers.
Will every presentation become smaller?+
No. The result depends on what is inside the file and how much it was already optimized. If a pass provides no reduction, keep the original or try a different image setting.
Is compression performed locally?+
Presentation file contents are processed in your browser for this workflow. They are not uploaded to a compression server. Keep the tab open until each output is ready.
Can I compress several files?+
Yes. Review the status and result for each file in the batch. The processing allowance is counted per successfully processed file, not per click.
Should I check the result before sharing it?+
Yes. Open the exported file in the application your audience uses. Check all pages, fonts, charts, and media, especially when the original contains complex formatting or unsupported objects.
